But this offensive scheme is not sustainable for a successful conference slate. It was a clutch and gutsy win against a ranked conference opponent but we may end up seeing all eleven defensive players within five yards of the line of scrimmage if we don’t mix up our play calling. The defense is clearly improving so will certainly keep us in every game but there is a danger they will get worn out by short Michigan offensive drives. I didn’t learn this until rewatching the USC game but until that final winning drive, our offense did not have a first down in the second half. A good part of that was USC stacking the box since we had little appetite (and no chance) of throwing the ball downfield. But we get our fifth straight home game (and tailgate!!) in the battle for the Little Brown Jug before we hit the road and a trip to Seattle…for us as well. Go Blue!!
A Win Is A Win, I Guess….
