Lost in all the ranting about the end of game management is that our Wolverines sucked. Worst I have ever witnessed and I have sat thru some pathetic seasons. All three aspects of the game. We had been hearing all summer how much the Wolverines had improved, from strength and conditioning to footwork. Saw none of that at the end of a long slog of a day. I will let everyone else debate Underwood, the most mind boggling aspect to me was the work of the offensive line. Last season, they had trouble with pass protection but were a good run blocking line. On Saturday night, the supposedly stronger OL had no push against a rebuilt WMU defense. And they continued to have breakdowns in pass pro. The defense appeared to wear down after repeated three and outs by the offense but they were unable to get stops when called upon. This resulted in a nearly 15 minute drive by WMU in the second half. Finally, can some coach please teach our punt returners to catch the f——- ball. This was an issue the last couple of seasons as well.
Now we flip from scraping by against a MAC team to a veteran Oklahoma team with one of the best defenses in the country. Last season, our Wolverines looked out of their league against this team and after last week’s results, the home crowd may turn quickly on this team. Prove us all wrong Wolverines. Go Blue!
